Well, except for the part where Linney says that she agreed to do the movie so her child could see her in something 'that's not traumatizing.' Sure, there are a few behind-the-scenes tidbits thrown in, but it's not enough to say this is, thus far, a worthwhile Blu-ray experience. I don't know why, but the extras are dedicated to telling us what we've already seen in the movie. Show me something new!Īt this point, I'm annoyed. It had everything a good 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' movie should have: action, comedy, pizza, inter-dimensional travel, and ridiculous characters.īut when all is said and done, the movie is anchored by Fox's O'Neil, who I swear does everything in her power to make me despise her.

Their appearance is welcome, especially to those of us who had to deal with the also-ran henchmen Tokka and Rahzar in 1991's 'The Secret of the Ooze.' There were parts of this movie I really loved, specifically the addition of Shredder's goons, Bebop (Gary Anthony Williams) and Rocksteady (Stephen Farrelly, a.k.a. How do you ruin 'Ninja Turtles'? With Megan Fox, of course! Including Linney is akin to asking Anthony Hopkins to play the Purple Pie Man in the live-action 'Strawberry Short Cake.' There's just something about it that seems off - as if director Dave Green has dirt on Linney and she's willing to do anything to keep it from going public. It's such a random collection of actors in varying stages of status. It's just overshadowed by the behemoth that is Megan Fox's bad acting. What's especially disappointing with 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows' is that the rest of the movie is pretty cool - especially for those of us who loved the cartoon.

The character has zero journalistic integrity, ignores the Society of Professional Journalists Code of Ethics, and is all-together poorly acted. Granted, the cartoon character was little more than an excuse to put a buxom human protagonist on screen to balance out all the giant talking animals, but that doesn't mean she needs to be played as a two-dimensional bimbo in the live-action film.Īs a journalist, Fox's portrayal of O'Neil was incredibly unappealing to me - and this goes for both films.
